CONTROL OF POLLUTION ACT 1974, s. 61

Approval of additional hours for noisy construction work granted by EH Manager, Emma Bourne, to Sir Robert McAlpine (SRM) from 20 February 2021 to 01 September 2021 for works to the Lockfield Drive junction to Victoria Way, up to Goldsworth Road junction/bridge and at the junction of Forge End on Victoria Way and Church Street West. Hours granted include; 18:00 to 02:00 on Monday to Fridays and 08:00 to 18:00 on Saturdays.

Additional hours are for the purpose completing Section 278 works for road, paving, signals and drainage improvements at the above mentioned site(s).

local residents and businesses will be informed of the works prior to commencement and will be provided with a site contact number. It is also understood that SRM will be conducting on-going noise, vibration and dust monitoring and will continue to co-operation with their Local Authority and local residents to reduce the impact of noise disturbance. Additional measures will be taken to minimise the noise, including; use of acoustic panels and equipment silencers, and steps will be taken to ensure plant is not left idling running when not in use and deliveries are made during day shifts, as far as is practically possible.

overnight noisy works have been operating for an extensive period now and we have had no / very occasional complaints (those that have come in have ended up being investigated and attributed to other nearby development works). There is also encouragement to get this work progressed as quickly as possible following delays caused by the earlier lockdown period of the pandemic. Regular site meetings with SRM confirm on-going noise, vibration and dust monitoring and co-operation with ourselves and the local residents.
